PYP

Visual Arts

While I was working with Early Years students the hundred languages of children were celebrated through sensory play while investigating a wide variety of materials. Students' thoughts and discoveries were made visible through open ended projects, we had a blast learning together!

My PYP art students uniquely express themselves with a variety of mediums and techniques through stand alone and trans-disciplinary units of inquiry. They reflect on the creative process, investigate cultures and art movements, research contemporary and historical artists, and above all have as much creative fun as possible!

MYP

Visual Arts

While teaching MYP, students created projects based on a variety of global contexts, art related key concepts, and interdisciplinary approaches to learning. Research, material use, and thought processes were recorded in their art journals. Students were expected to think critically, reflect, and take creative risks along the way!

K-12

Visual Arts

While instructing grades K-12 under the American Curriculum, my students worked on a range of individual and collaborative projects involving diverse art skills, techniques, and mediums while learning about cultural, historical, and contemporary art from all over the world. Art lessons for all grade levels also included interdisciplinary links with reading, writing, math, and history.

Service Learning & Volunteer Work

Service learning is a wonderful thing for students and teachers to take part in and learn from. I believe that helping others should be second nature. Encouraging students to be involved with surrounding and international communities makes a positive impact in their lives as well as others. I have had the opportunity to lead MYP students on a service learning trip to Chang Mai and also have experience volunteering and teaching art in Kenya. I have valued these rewarding experiences and look forward to more opportunities volunteering with students in the future.

 Murals & Backdrops

Throughout my teaching career I have enjoyed working with groups of students to create large scale art works for school productions and displays. The students are always thrilled by what they can achieve by working together!

Art Shows & Events

Art related events are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate student creativity and individuality. Exhibits and concerts are always well received by students, families, staff, and the local community.
